The senior class cruise that has taken place in previous years will not be setting sail this year. In its place senior class officers are hard at work planning a pig roast to take place on May 14 in Thurmont, the night before Baccalaureate.
The pig roast will feature a dance floor, bonfire, alcohol, and of course, food. Class President Anne Costigan says, "The cruise started with the Bicentennial class of 2008 and last year's class did it too. It wasn't a tradition, but to our class it seemed like one. The pig roast is a longer period of time for less money."
The idea of a pig roast stemmed from Director of Campus Activities Ken McVearry and is exclusive to the senior class.
Costigan hopes that it will become a new Mount tradition saying, "The cruise was a lot of money for what it was, it was only 2 hours. I think the pig roast will be more fun. We're working hard to make sure it's going to be a blast."
The officers are also hard at work planning their April 17 formal to ensure that a great class has a memorable send-off.
