On Feb. 19, the Mount will be participating in the Relay for Life, one of the biggest fundraisers for cancer. The relay is a 12-hour walk-a-thon that raises money for the American Cancer Association.

"Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to finding a cure," said Allison Pressimone, the event chair for the Mount's second annual Relay for Life.

"This year's relay has a carnival theme," Pressimone said. "There will be games and prizes and music."

There will be about 20 cancer survivors attending the relay as well. Last year, the Mount raised over $39,000 and Pressimone hopes to top that this year.

"As of right now (Jan. 31), we have $15,707.79 raised," Pressimone said. "We are trying to top it, but so far it has been slow going. We are hopeful, though. We have 306 people signed up right now, but there is still time for people to sign up!"

To sign up for the Relay for Life, go to www.relayforlife.org/msmary. Registration is $25.
