Freshmen Megan Kinsella and Kathryn Franke ran for Mount St. Mary's in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 14.
Kinsella finished 38th out of 190 runners with a time of 22:40, and was also the sixth freshman to finish.
"I was pretty excited when I crossed the line in 38th place," said Kinsella. "I never thought I could place that high at a Division I regional cross country meet, and it gave me a lot of confidence for my next three years here at the Mount."
Franke finished 131st. Not only is she a rookie to regional competition at the Division I level, but she is also a rookie to the sport of cross country. She played field hockey throughout her entire high school career, and had never stepped foot onto a cross country course until this year.
"She adapted very well and ran her best 6k time of the year despite the mud!" exclaimed assistant coach Larry O'Hara.
