LaMonica named ladies' lax coach

Athletic Director Lynne Robinson named Sonia LaMonica head coach of women's lacrosse Tuesday, Nov. 17.
According to the Mount athletics website, LaMonica served as assistant coach at Towson for two years and Denver in 2006. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2003, where she started for three years and was captain her senior year.
Originally from Australia, LaMonica has a gold medal from the World Cup in 2005 and silver in 2009.
"I look forward to taking this next step in my coaching career, and am determined to raise the women's lacrosse program to national prestige," said LaMonica on the Mount athletics website. " With the vision and the support of the Athletic Department and the University, I am excited for the future of Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse."
