As the recruiting process came to a close and Goode signed his letter of intent in the spring of 2006, he had committed to become a Mountaineer.

"Everyone tried to steer me away from that decision but I just prayed on it and stuck with what my mind had made up," Goode said.

The Mount offered Goode opportunities on the court that other schools could not promise.

"To be honest, I thought that I had the opportunity to start right away, and I liked that idea," Goode said. "The thing I liked the most was younger coaches that had played the guard position in college and could offer me coaching from experience."

"If someone asked me what made Jeremy go to the Mount I would say the same reason I went: because of Coach Brown," said Kearse. "Being from North Carolina, we've never heard of the school, but Coach Brown made us believe that the Mount was a good place to be."

When introducing the basketball class of 2010, head coach Milan Brown predicted a successful career for the incoming freshman.

"Jeremy is a super quick point guard," said Brown. "It will be exciting to find out how quick he really is on the court. He is very good in the open court and he loves to attack the basket. He will enhance our fast break as well as give us pressure on the ball on the defensive end."

"Once he told me he was coming to the Mount, I knew that he was going to be a difference maker," Kearse said. "If you look at me and Jeremy's history, you would see that he and I have followed in each others footsteps since high school, but in every situation he has done a lot better than me. So I knew that since I had some success at the Mount, he was going to do as well because he's my little brother and it's only right."

Seven months after committing to the Mount, Goode was named NEC Rookie of the Week on three occasions. By season's end he had set a Mount freshman record with 155 assists, became a Mid-Major Freshman All-American and just shy of the first ever triple-double in Mount history (19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists).

As he prepares for his senior season, Goode's decision seemed to have worked out for both him and the Mount.
