TENNIS: Tennis teams crushed

Both the men's and women's tennis teams finished 0-7 in their matches versus Bucknell at home last Tuesday, March 24 . The Mount men's team dropped to 2-12 while the Mount women fell to 5-9.
In men's action, in which the Mount dropped all six of its singles matches, Bucknell's Ryan Sandburg defeated senior Favio Osorio 6-1, 6-0 in the men's No. 1 match, while Mount sophomore Andrew Marinucci lost to Anton Kovic 6-1, 6-0. The closest match of the evening was played by junior Thad Mostowtt's, as he was edged out by Gregg Cohenca by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (11-9). Other Mountaineers who played were sophomore Patrick Plastow, senior Sam Walton, and freshman Jastin Mostowtt. Bucknell (4-6) also earned the doubles point after Kovic and Sandburg teamed up to defeat Marinucci and Plastow 8-0, while Osorio and Mostowtt lost to Daniel Bednarik and Mark Malloy 9-7 (7-1).
The women's team also dropped every match of the day. Junior Emily Bolchoz got swept by Tania Varela 6-0, 6-0 in No.1 singles action. Junior Chelsea Johnson and senior Kaitlin Hallahan both suffered tough losses, with Johnson losing to Bucknell's Lauren Lucido 4-6, 6-1, 10-6, and Hallahan losing 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 to Dumitra Iepuras. Sophomore Emma Haley, junior Emily Grugan, and freshman Lauren Clark also lost their matches. In doubles play, Bolchoz and Haley lost to Paulina Gamboa and Lucido 8-3 in the No.1 match, while Hallahan and Johnson lost to Varela and Carlin Calcaterra, 8-3, and junior Samantha Dupaya and Grugan were swept 8-0.
The Bucknell women's team improved to 9-5 with its victory over the Mount.
