Incorporating everything from rap, to dance, to drama to present ideas shared by Christians of all denominations, the Interdenominational Ministry group presented students with a "Night of Worship and Witness" this past Wednesday, March 25th.
The night began with a welcoming address and opening prayer that all Christians could take part in. After the prayer was said Monet Cunningham took the stage to share some of her rap with the audience. Following that was a combination of skits, videos and multiple dances by the Liturgical Dancers.
Though there were many different parts to the presentation one theme was stressed during the duration of the night: This was all done for the glory of God, with full hearts and emotion pouring out from every performer.
Jonathan Gibbons and Jed Crook, along with Jen Nicholson, Seth Wheeler and Kevin Hamilton took the stage and presented a selection from Les Miserables. They took the stage armed with a cassock and candlesticks and illustrated to the audience the ideas of forgiveness and redemption.
In addition, members of the Interdenominational Ministry reproduced a more modern skit to the song "Everything" by Lifehouse. Again, this skit showed through the art of performance and the use of emotion, the greatness of God's forgiveness and redemption.
Part of the night included a the performances by the Liturgical Dancers. Lamar Brown, Miriam Bruno-Gaston, Chanaye Jackson, Catherine Mithika, Julie Mohammad, Priscilla Ramos and Kaisha Sutton danced at two different points during the night, and each time showed something different. Together, the seven dancers not only entertained, but told a story with their motions, expressing their love for God.
The night was an opportunity for all denominations to come together and enjoy music, dancing and other performances.
