Even though the Mount may seem like it its own little country sometimes, there is a big one out there that it is about to elect a new president.

The Mount is full of people who are just about to vote in their first election, however, they will be away from home when they do. How will Mount students go about voting this year?

The Mount draws from everywhere, especially Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. Some students, mostly the ones who are from nearby, are willing to drive back to their hometown in Maryland or Pennsylvania to vote.

"I'm going all the way back to my precinct," said sophomore Mike Keating, a resident of the countryside outside of Baltimore.

"Goin' back to Carlisle, Pennsylvania," sophomore Nick Raines said.

"I'm getting a ride back to Hagerstown to vote," sophomore Josh 'Gonzo' Borland said.

"I'm driving back to Lancaster," sophomore Jeremy Elder said, "I'm dumb and I forgot to mail for an absentee ballot. So I need to vote at home."

"I'm voting in Gettysburg," said Gettysburg resident Jacob Yohn, "It's just fifteen minutes down the road."

Even though some students live in nearby states, or even an hour down the road somewhere in Maryland, they choose to vote absentee. Some consider it smarter and more efficient. Some just do not want to drive home.

"I live in Prince George County, Maryland," sophomore Max Trappkin said, "But I'm doing absentee."

"I live in Pennsylvania," sophomore Katie Cosner said, "And I am doing absentee."

Even though some may not realize it, the Mount also has students from various other states all around the country. These students have no way of getting home on Nov. 4, and even if they did, it would be a very expensive journey.

"Of course I'm voting," Rhode Islander Tim Abramo said. "I'm voting absentee. The biggest issue to me is the economy. I support McCain all the way. I don't want this country to go down the tubes."
