Every Mount basketball fan could not help but act surprised when the men's basketball team defeated Sacred Heart University in the Northeast Conference Championship. Along with that surprise came a trip to the Play-In Game for the NCAA Tournament.

Over two decades ago the Mount beat the Coppin State Eagles. Now both underdogs will meet in Ohio to decide who will make it to the Big Dance to play No. 1 seed North Carolina on Friday.

The Mount hasn't seen Coppin State since the 1984-85 season, when neither team was at NCAA Division I status. The three times these teams have met though, the Mount has prevailed. While the Mount defeated Sacred Heart to win the NEC title, Coppin State defeated the No. 1, 2 and 3 seeds on its way to the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Championship.

Being on the road should not be too hard for the Mount since it posted 10 wins this year in away games, the most by a Mount team since joining Division I in 1988-89.

The Eagles are the first team in NCAA history to make the tournament with 20 losses. While this is an accomplishment within itself for the Eagles it gives the Mount an advantage with more experience winning this season as well as a championship under its belt.

Coppin State hasn't seen the NCAA tournament since 1997.
