Tonight the Mount St. Mary's men's basketball team finds itself back in the Northeast Conference Championship, a feat they have not accomplished since 1999.

An 83-65 victory against top-seeded Robert Morris Sunday afternoon gave the Mountaineers their third berth into the conference final where they face Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

Mount St. Mary's is 2-0 in the NEC Championship game. Under legendary head coach Jim Phelan, the Mount defeated Central Connecticut State 72-65 in 1999 and Rider 69-62 in 1995.

Current head coach Milan Brown was an assistant on Phelan's staff when the Mount took the championship in 1999.

The Mount and Sacred Heart met once this season, with the Pioneers taking the game 67-59 at Knott Arena. The Mountaineers are 10-6 in its all-time series against Sacred Heart. Tonight's game will be the first time these two teams meet in the conference final.

The Mount is 17-14 this season overall and 11-7 in NEC action. This is the first winning season since the 1996-97 campaign.

Sacred Heart was voted the preseason NEC favorite and posts a record of 18-13. Sacred Heart is 6-4 in NEC play and 9-5 at home this season.
