Two students face charges for second-degree assault

Two female Mount students are facing second-degree assault charges, according to Frederick County District Court documents.
Both females, ages 22 and 20, are suspects in an investigation of an alleged assault that occurred Feb. 3 at 11:30 p.m., on the Mount campus, according to a press release issued by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The 20-year-old victim claimed she was "struck in the face several times and kicked in the ribs and back after she fell to the ground," according to the release.
The release stated that the 22-year-old female student was arrested and charged with second-degree assault Feb. 12 on a warrant issued by Cpl. Jason West of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section. She was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center's Central Booking Unit, processed and released on bond the same day, according to district court documents.
The 20-year-old female received a summons Feb. 15 to appear in court on second-degree assault charges, according to the documents.
A trial is set for April 17 at the Frederick County District Court.
