Two arrested in cop assault

A 19-year-old female student and her 22-year-old brother were arrested by Frederick County Sheriff's Office on charges of disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, the student "began to strike, kick, and bite" Detective Daniel Romeril after he approached her brother.
He was responding to a call from the Mount St. Mary's Public Safety Department, requesting assistance with a disorderly individual.
According to a press release from the sheriff's office, the student "began to strike, kick, and bite" Romeril when he approached her brother. The brother then punched Romeril as his sister was placed under arrest. While both were under arrest, the student continued to kick another officer, Dfc. Welte.
The woman, who is 19, faces charges of second degree assault of law enforcement and second degree assault. The male also faces a charge of second degree assault of law enforcement, in addition to disorderly conduct.
Both are scheduled to stand trial on March 15.
