Can you believe it? It's already almost Turkey Day. In the spirit of the holiday I just did a major fall cleaning. I know, I know; it is supposed to be in the spring, but this place was becoming unlivable.

Among the many empty and crushed cans of…soda, I also found something I had lost over the last couple of weeks-my concentration. I talk a lot about my ability, more appropriately my inability, to focus, concentrate and remain on schedule.

If you have ever read this column you may know that I like to bust out the dictionary now and then to clarify a point I am trying to make. Concentration means to give exclusive attention and close mental application to a given thing. I am a firm believer of constantly concentrating on at least ten things at once.

It never did work for good ol' Charlie Brown when he was attempting to concentrate on that football. That Lucy tricked him everytime and ruined not only his Thanksgiving, but many other holiday specials and comic strip appearances.

We all have a million and one things to do over these next few weeks as exams creep closer and closer. And then there is shopping for the holidays when we must sacrifice the little we have as college students to get Mom something she never wanted or needed.

But it is way too early to be talking about Christmas, although the Mount is already throwing up those illuminating arches and the nativity scene straight out of Lite Bright. Thanksgiving Break will hopefully give us some time to put on a pitiful display of athleticism during the annual Turkey Bowl backyard football games distracting us from the four, five, and even six mental challenges of what we have neglected to rise to this semester.

My entire family on my dad's side is coming over this Thanksgiving and man, am I excited! Sarcasm: a form of wit or a sharply ironical taunt.

But honestly, it will be a fun experience seeing all of my relatives again, given that I only get the chance a few times out of the year. I am sure many of you will be doing the same as you catch up with friends and family.

This is a time to celebrate our founding fathers who came to America with Christopher Columbus who met up with The Village People and those Pilgrims, and how they all sat around watching fireworks while eating turkey with the Native Americans. Wait, that doesn't sound right. I really should have concentrated more in my history classes.

See what concentration can

do for you? You can capably pass your exams and calm your nerves. You may even be able to learn a thing or two about Thanksgiving.
