Women's lax best in NEC
Gealy, Campano big factors in perfect weekend

The women's lacrosse team made a sacrifice over the weekend: they missed Mountapalooza to win the program's first-ever NEC tournament. The team then went on to post another close victory over Monmouth, 11-10.
MSM 11, Monmouth 10
Erin Lamotte opened up the scoring unassisted 10 minutes into the first half. This was followed by an unassisted goal by the NEC Rookie of the Year, Katie Mason. Twenty seconds later Addie Lewis dumped one in off an assist by DiAngelo. Next came a goal from Jen Davidson courtesy of a leading pass from Lamotte.
This ended the Mount run at 12 minutes into the first half as Monmouth got a goal to get the team on the board. Kirby Day then scored to make the score 5-1 before Monmouth scored two goals. Then Mason returned off an assist from Lewis before yet another set of two from the Pioneers. Lewis and Casey Paris attempted to finish out the first half scoring, Lewis off an assist from Ellen Keener, but to no avail as Laura Levins of Monmouth just managed a netter with to seconds left. The teams left at the break with teh Mount leading 8-6.
The second half saw the Mount pack in insurance to make a Monmouth retaliation a failure. Kim Keene scored on a free shot nine minutes into the half followed by Day. Monmouth then hit one before Mason matched it with the help of Lewis. Monmouth went on a 3-0 run to finish out the game, the last two goals being free-position shots, but was not strong enough to overcome the No. 1 seeded Mountaineers.
Naomi Campano was named tournament MVP and had 13 saves in the victory, including two big saves at the end of the game to send Monmouth home.
MSM 6, Sarcred Heart 5
The team just slipped by on Friday, winning 6-5 over Sacred Heart in New Jersey.
Katie Simmons and Nicole DiAngelo led the team, each coming up with a goal and an assist. The game was looking all Mount for the first 20 minutes as Sacred Heart's net caught three shots that the goalie couldn't.
